The oldest parts of Muddlebridge House are believed to have been several small local potteries.
We have a selection of bicycles for hire, mainly tourers, for use on the virtually flat Tarka Trail.Muddlebridge House and holiday cottages are conveniently located between the historical and picturesque town of Barnstaple and the estuary side village of Instow. The cottages have plenty of character and sleep between two and six people. Muddlebridge House is the perfect base for exploring all that this wonderful part of the country has to offer including Clovelly, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe.
For the more active guest, we are located just a short distance away from the famous Tarka Trail, a wide range of sports and family entertainment amenities, wonderful beaches, cliff walks and glorious countryside. We have an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna cabin, a children's outdoor play area, pets corner, games rooms and a selection of bicycles for hire.
The two largest cottages are Thatchers and Wheelwrights and occupy the top two floors of the converted carriage barn. Each has three bedrooms, one double(ensuite) and two twin bedded rooms. Millers Cottage has a stairlift and has a double, twin and single room. Potters and Weavers Cottages each sleep four in a double and twin room. Forge sleeps two to three people in its good sized bedroom. Saddlers Cottage sleeps two. Each cottage is equipped with colour TV/DVD, radio/CD player and fully fitted kitchen.
Plenty for children of all ages. Adults can join in or relax peacefully in over two acres of grounds/gardens. An excellent selection of local shops, pubs, takeaways, restaurants and supermarket can be found within a few minutes drive of the accommodation. Within an easy 15 minute drive are a wide range of sports facilities, superb beaches and family attractions. Within 25-30 mins are virtually all the pretty villages, rugged coastline and exhilarating countryside of North Devon
