Nestling in the Exe Valley you'll find the Bark House Hotel. A traditional Devon building once used for the storage of bark for the tanning industry in Bampton. This cottage style property now offers cosy guest accommodation and a licensed restaurant serving locally sourced quality food and fresh baked breads. Within easy reach of the Bark House you can enjoy the countryside activities of fishing, horse riding, water sports and walking plus a great range of picturesque villages, gardens and historic buildings. At Exebridge maybe try your hand at the fly fishing school or take a ride out into the countryside at one of the Pony Trekking Centres. An exciting day out can be had on the Exmoor Safari where you'll be taken on a journey of discovery. Landrovers take you through steep wooded valleys, clear rushing rivers and over windswept moors in search of elusive red deer and the Exmoor ponies. Along the way your guide will point out the flora and fauna species and there is plenty of opportunity for photography.

All first floor bedrooms look over the Exe valley and are decorated in a cottage style. Each room has an en suite shower, or private bath room, colour television, telephone and hot beverage facilities. Registered with the AA, South West Tourism and have been assessed as 4 star. The Woodland Suite is on the second floor, has a double bedroom, lounge, small kitchenette, and shower room. There is an external door opening onto a small decked area and path behind the Bark House. The Woodland Suite will be let on a daily basis either on bed and breakfast or room only. Devon and Somerset have a good selection of local food producers and The Bark House Hotel likes to buy from local shops and farmers markets wherever possible. Cooking style is a mix of traditional oven dishes and meals cooked to order and all served with either fresh vegetables or salads and followed by a selection of home made desserts. Time permitting we make a range of jams, chutneys and jellies from local hedgerow or pick your own farms. Home baked breads, delicious Pavalovas, scrummy puddings and home made soups are all on offer at this delightful cottage style hotel.
