The Banksea Hotel is a three star family run hotel with licensed bar and outdoor dining terrace in the English Riviera resort of Torquay. The town has a background of pirates, smugglers and honest fisherman and in the nineteenth century developed into a fashionable haven for visitors. Beacon Quay is well worth a visit, where shops and cafes now enjoy a beautiful setting overlooking the bay and Living Coasts, an aquatic zoo.

Torquay was named 'Queen of the Riviera' by the Victorians and is widely known as the 'English Riviera' to this day. The resort's mild climate has helped the town develop a fascinating horticultural heritage and the many parks and gardens are well worth exploring. One of the most instantly recognisable features of the resort is the Torbay Palm, brought over from New Zealand in the 1820's and now seen in many parks and gardens around the town.
