The Palace Hotel is Torquay's largest and most prestigious four star hotel and occupies a truly enviable position at the heart of the English Riviera. The hotel began life in the mid nineteenth century as a home for the then Bishop of Exeter, Henry Philpotts. Later, during the second world war, the building was requisitioned as a hospital for RAF officers.
