The Downs is a family run 4* Visit Britain Guest Accommodation located right on the seafront bordering the Babbacombe Downs. Situated on a clifftop we have 12 en-suite rooms, 8 with balconies enjoying fabulous unobstructed sea views along the coastline to Teignmouth and over Lyme Bay all the way to Portland Bill. We have flexible rooms (sleeping up to 5) with reduced rates for children under 12. We also have our newly created family suite for those who want a bit more privacy. All rooms are en-suite and have hospitality tray, Flatscreen 19" Freeview TV's, hairdryers and free WiFi access. We are fully licensed and our Lounge Bar and spacious Restaurant with Snug provides additional space for our guest to enjoy. We are also dog friendly with a number of allocated rooms for pets. During the summer months the forecourt café provides an excellent area to relax, enjoy the view and enjoy a light lunch, traditional cream tea or refreshing beer.

The Downs enjoys an enviable position in the resort of Babbcombe. Babbacombe is a small village within the town of Torquay, often referred to as 'the Jewel in Torquay's crown' it is famous for its cliff top promenade and its stunning views across Lyme Bay. These views can be enjoyed from 8 of our 12 en-suite bedrooms as well as the bar and restaurant. The South West Coastal Path passes our front door, with a numbe of Torquay's premier attractions within walking distance; Bygones, Babbcombe Model Village & Babbacombe Cliff Railway. Torquay's harbour is some 1.5 miles passing Wellswood, a popular street lined with shops, cafes and restaurants. There are excellent bus links for those who choose not to walk. We offer flexible accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis with optional evening meal which can be booked on a daily basis. Early or late breakfasts can be accommodated as well as breakfast in your room or balconies. Dogs are welcomed and breakfast can be enjoyed in our bar area should you wish your dog to eat with you. In short, our aim it to make your stay with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

All rooms feature 19" Flatscreen Feeview TV's, hospitality tray and Wifi access in all areas. During the summer the forecourt cafe provides an excellent area to enjoy a light lunch, cream tea or refreshing beer, with many home-made specials. You will also find a well stocked licensed bar and lounge area in which to relax and enjoy a drink. We have an excellent reputation for quality breakfasts and delicious home cooked three course evening meals. Special dietry requirements can be catered to with prior notice.

We are biker friendly and offer off street parking including CCTV coverage. For those of you looking to explore the South West give us a call for full details. For those of you who want to spend the day exploring, or on the beach, packed lunches are available to suit your requirements. Our short Table d'hôte Menu changes daily and is served in the restaurant or lounge bar if preferred. We try to use only the freshest ingredients using, where practicable, local suppliers. With a choice of either 2 course or 3 course plus coffee we endeavour to appeal to all tastes and appetites. Fresh fish can be ordered daily and the finest steaks can be supplied at a small surcharge. Vegetarian and Coeliac options available upon request.
