Comfortable Varley House in Ilfracombe was built at the turn of the century as a retreat for returning officers from the Boer War. The hotel retains much of it's original charm and character, and has been graded ETC/AA 4 stars for quality, superb service and comfort. The hotel is fully equipped with it's own car park and a sunny garden. We're conveniently placed opposite Hillsborough Nature Reserve, which overlooks Ilfracombe Harbour, a short stroll away. Guests have access to the hotel's spacious lounge which has comfortable chairs and is tastefully furnished, and is the perfect place to relax with a drink, to play games or for a quiet read.

Our luxurious rooms are all fully en-suite and have tastefully co-ordinated decor and furnishings. All have colour TV., clock/radio alarm, hairdryer, well stocked beverage tray and many thoughtful little extras. All rooms are non-smoking, but guests are permitted to smoke in the Bar area only. Our rooms have either sea or country views with full central heating provided Guests can expect a traditional hearty full English breakfast or a lighter breakfast option if preferred. We offer an evening meal service, consisting of delicious home-cooked food, complemented by our range of carefully selected wines. Also on-site is the hotel's congenial bar which offers a large selection of beers, wines and spirits, as well as an array of non-alcoholic refreshments to suit your tastes.
