Watermill Cottages - Dartmouth

Six Stunning Holiday Cottages In Hidden Valley Near Dartmouth, Sleep 2-6, Gardens, Pets Welcome

Watermill Cottages include six beautifully appointed old stone cottages on the banks of a small river by an 18th Century mill house. Situated adjacent to a working farm in a unique and wonderful valley, the cottages are conveniently just a mile inland from Slapton sands and the stunning South Hams coast. A choice of 15 beaches are within 30 minutes drive, and nearly all are dog friendly. The Valley is a peaceful haven of flowers and wildlife and various holiday attractions are located near to us including art and craft galleries, lake and sea fishing, riding, either at the local stables 10 minutes down the road or on the Moor, 3 South Hams golf courses nearby, and plenty of National Trust Properties. Watermill Cottages and the Valley are a superb place to bring dogs, as there are plenty of walks and practically no traffic. Children have a whole valley to explore, woods to play in and the river to dam and race boats on. The River Gara rarely runs more than knee height so they are safe to paddle. Children are welcome to feed the pigs, collect eggs from the chickens and in the Spring there may be lambs to bottle feed. Birdwatchers can enjoy our wide variety of wood and wetland birds, and our lack of light pollution gives wonderful opportunities for star gazing, and you can fish for the small brown trout in the river.

Our 6 cottages are all quite different. The bedroomds in Quack are simply furnished with roses and wisteria peeping in the windows. Mill and Crownwheel have the river running past the bedroom windows. You can enjoy watching the stars from your bed in Rose (our night skies are a real treat). Barleycorn cottage has gret big bedrooms up in the eves with good valley views. The bedrooms in Buntings have massive beams and thick walls. All our bedrooms are comfortably furnished and have modern bathrooms with baths and showers. The kitchens are all well equipped with ccoking utensills and have their own washing machine and microwave. The living rooma are comfortable with a selection of easy chairs or sofas. All the cottages, except Buntings, have wood burning fires. The uniqueness of our valley location is our main distinction. Each cottage is unique with it's own attraction. Quack is a quaint, typical chocolate box, cottage with its own large, enclosed riverside garden. Rose is bright and sunny furnished in a 50's style and is away from it all with a deck to make the most of the views. It has an enclosed garden. Mill is light and modern with good river views from the upstairs living room. Crownwheel has more privacy with a patio terrace looking out over the woods and the river. Buntings is a comfortable little cottage with great thick walls and masive beams. All on one level it is popular with older and younger visitors who want to avoid stairs. Barleycorn has lots of space, nice views and an enclosed garden for dogs.
