Devon Fishing choice is superb, and many Devon guesthouse B&Bs and Devon Hotels offer discount deals which include fishing permits. Some Devon country house hotels even have fishing within their own grounds! Exmouth fishing for fishing fans is certainly on the menu. Various companies operate chartered fishing trips and one of the best is Stuart Line Fishing based just outside Exeter. They offer a choice of Mackeral fishing trips, lasting about 1 1/2 hours, or how about an all day fishing trip leaving at 9am, coming back about 5pm. Stuart Line fishing also do stag and hen fishing trips, or school party fishing trips on the Exe Estuary - something a bit different certainly for your stag and hen do Devon style! Stuart Line boats range from 63 seaters, to smaller 12 seaters. All rods and bait are supplied free of charge, plus on some of their boats there is a bar and toilet for your convenience.
Dartmoor Devon is simply superb for a Devon fishing holiday. With every kind of fishing imaginable available, including brown trout fishing, fly fishing, pike, rainbow trout, carp and bream. Dartmoor benefits from many reservoirs, all of which offer superb fishing. Check out the River Dart and it's tributaries as well, open all year round for fishing. Looking for a Dartmoor fishing base, with a monastic and stannary history. Tavistock of course then is it. Ilfracombe is actually a top charter vessel North Devon hotspot for fishing. It's pretty tidal though, so certain times for sea fishing are more favourable. Lundy Island offers excellent for pollack fishing, whilst head to Baggy Point, 8 miles to the south for autumn tope. A number of fishing competitions are held in Ilfracombe every year, including one off Ilfracombe Pier.
The Devon coastline offers some of the most stunning coastal walking in Britain, with a mix of jagged cliffs, red sandstone on the Jurassic Coast, long sandy blue flag surfing beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde to the North, back to jagged cliffs at Ilfracombe, and gentle coastal walking where estuaries hit the coast at Exmouth and Salcombe.
