Exeter Arts, Crafts and Antiques shopping anyone? Head down to the Exeter Canal and Quay which is lined with a superb choice of antique outlets selling their wares. It's a beautiful setting, with a choice of chic pubs and cafes if you need a break from the shopping!
Exeter, being a student city, has some brilliant off the wall shops around the Spacex Contemporary Art centre. Well worth having a good look around here, just slightly out of the city centre!
Totnes & South Hams Specialist Shopping
Totnes is a glorious specialist shopping hotspot in South Hams/Devon and it takes pride in it's Green Tourism approach. There's a bohemian and alternative feel to Totnes high street, lined with organic food shops, choice vegetarian and vegan cafes and restaurants and some Devon arts and crafts specialist shops you'll spend hours in!
Today Totnes has a radical kick if you like, with it's resident community of writers, therapists, musicians, and herbalists. Expect to see a few buskers, and lots of organic and vegan/vegetarian cafes. Plus a selection of great bookshops and quirky specialist shops. Watch parking and traffic, both can be a little tricky. Totnes Castle has it's own fee paying car park, so for a central position head for that, following signs for the castle.
Torquay, Paignton & Devon Bargain Discount Shopping
Torquay town centre is mostly pedestrianised, making it a most pleasant shopping environment with all the usual well known shopping names, plus a selection of chic bars and pubs (popular with the stag and hen weekends) and cafes. The town centre is ideally placed right near the Harbour as well.
Paignton is tops for Devon bargain discount holiday shopping. Get your English Riviera postcards, beach accessaries like lilos, buckets and spades and rubber rings all in Paignton's holiday shops. There's some great bargain clothes shops, perfume shops and so on, all sitting well in family holiday hotspot Paignton.
