Expect Devon fishing hotspots around all of Devon's estuaries such as the Exe Estuary and Salcombe estuary. Exmouth fishing for fishing fans is certainly on the menu. Various companies operate chartered fishing trips and one of the best is Stuart Line Fishing based just outside Exeter. They offer a choice of Mackeral fishing trips, lasting about 1 1/2 hours, or how about an all day fishing trip leaving at 9am, coming back about 5pm. Stuart Line fishing also do stag and hen fishing trips, or school party fishing trips on the Exe Estuary - something a bit different certainly for your stag and hen do Devon style!
Dartmoor Devon is simply superb for a Devon fishing holiday. With every kind of fishing imaginable available, including brown trout fishing, fly fishing, pike, rainbow trout, carp and bream. Dartmoor benefits from many reservoirs, all of which offer superb fishing. Check out the River Dart and it's tributaries as well, open all year round for fishing. Tavistock Trout Farm and Fishery and Burrator Reservoir nearby are the perfect fishing spots - fly fishing is on the menu at Tavistock Fishery! Move south around the Salcombe Estuary, and there are plenty of fishing boat trips available from Salcombe Harbour. Ilfracombe is actually a top charter vessel North Devon hotspot for fishing. It's pretty tidal though, so certain times for sea fishing are more favourable. Lundy Island offers excellent fishing for pollack, or head to Baggy Point, 8 miles to the south for autumn tope. A number of fishing competitions are held in Ilfracombe every year, including one off Ilfracombe Pier.

Golf lovers and indeed racing lovers should head to Nigel Mansell's World of Racing at Woodbury. There's lots going on here including a championship 73 Par golf course, a magnificent parkland golf course this one!, a luxury hotel, an exhibition on motor car racing (you can sit in Nigel Mansell's car - whoopee!) and some superb leisure facilities on-site. Dawlish Warren Golf Club, Dawlish Warren, Devon EX7 0NF. Tel: 01626 862255. Superb golf club located actually on the Spit within the Dawlish Nature Reserve. 18 hole/69 Par, with a clubhouse on-site and great views of the spit and this conservation area.

Mortehoe and Woolacombe golf club is a superbly scenic coastal Devon golf course, with panoramic views of the North Devon Coast across to Lundy Island. This golf course is short, with it's 9 holes, but challenging nonetheless and has the advantage of no handicap required - it's a good one for beginners. Green fees are available, and you can base yourself here as well as there's an on-site caravan park and a self-catering cottage which sleeps 5. Indoor bowls are offered too!
Other golf courses in the area include Ilfracombe Golf Course, or a little inland for Holsworthy Golf Course. Alternatively visit the superb Royal North Golf Course at Westward Ho. This course has 18 holes, and a golf museum on site, it being the oldest seaside course in Devon. North Devon and the coast are extremely well served for golf courses and golf clubs. Barnstaple's golf course has two parkland courses, the aptly named Barum and Landkey. Both are 18 hole golf courses, and Barum has PAR 70, whilst Landkey has a PAR 54. There's some very good golf facilities on this course including a floodlit golf driving range. No handicaps are required.
