Dartmoor, Devon Fishing Information Including Fly Fishing

Dartmoor Devon is simply superb for a Devon fishing holidays. With every kind of fishing imaginable available, including brown trout fishing, fly fishing, pike, rainbow trout, carp and bream. Dartmoor benefits from many reservoirs, all of which offer superb fishing. Check out the River Dart and it's tributaries as well, open all year round for fishing.

Fishing in North and West Dartmoor, Devon

Top North Dartmoor fishing holiday spots include Meldon Reservoir, open for fishing from mid March to end of October. Fishing here is brown free wilderness trout fishing. Tel: 01822 855700

Superb fly fishing in Devon is to be had in Tavistock at the Tavistock Trout Fishery, Parkwood Road, Tavistock. Tel: 01822 615441. Fishing is open here all year round, excepting Christmas. There are 5 superb lakes which hold Rainbow trout, brown trout fishing and triploid fishing. There's also accommodation, fishing tuition and a refreshments outlet on-site! For coarse fishing in North Dartmoor, check out Week Farm in Bridestowe. Tel: 01837 861221. There are three fishing lakes here which hold carp, rudd, tench, bream and barbel. A variety of nature trails are also in the area!

South and East Dartmoor Fishing Holidays

Reservoir fishing is particularly good in Dartmoor, which just happens to have quite a few reservoirs. Check out the Avon Dam Reservoir, Tel: 01822 855700. There's all year fishing for natural trout here, and plenty of nature trails in the surrounding area!

Burrator Reservoir, Tel: 01822 855700 is open for fly fishing and spinning for rainbow and brown trout from id March to end of September. If you're staying in Yelverton, renowned for Buckland Abbey - the home of Sir Francis Drake - then Burrator Reservoir is the perfect fishing spot. Get your fishing permits for Burrator Reservoir at Yelverton Garage. Also near Yelverton, right next to Buckland Abbey is Coombe Fishery, Tel: 01822 616624. Excellent carp fishing is to be had in two 1 acre lakes on this site.

Kennick Reservoir to the east of Dartmoor National Park not far from Bovey Tracey, Tel: 01647 2777587, is open from 22 March to 31 October and stocks rainbow trout. You can get fishing permits for Kennick Reservoir from the self-service kiosk. Trenchford Reservoir, Tel: 01647 277587, is attached to Kennick Reservoir, but Trenchford is open all year round for pike fishing. There are toilets and nature trails on-site, plus permits available from the self-service kiosk!

Central Dartmoor Fishing Holidays

The River Dart has excellent fishing. Contact the Duchy of Cornwall, Tel: 01822 890205. Licences for fishing in the River Dart and tributaries are available all year round.

Fenworthy Reservoir, West of Moretonhampstead is open for natural brown trout fishing from 1 April to 12 October. Tel: 01647 277587. On-site are picnic areas and nature trails.

Venford Reservoir, north of Buckfastleigh is perfect for brown and rainbow trout, as spinning and bubble-float fishing. Tel: 01822 855700, open from 15 March to 12 October, this area is surrounded by nature trails and is a most pleasant spot for Dartmoor fishing!
