Exeter Airport, Parking & Flights
Exeter Airport has been around for a while, it first opened in May 1937, with services to the Channel Islands by Jersey Airways. This was shortly followed by flights to Plymouth and Cardiff by Railway Air Services. Exeter Airport grew steadily in the late 1930s, offering UK services to Bristol, Lands End, the Channel Islands and Bournemouth to name a few. In the War years it was a strategic RAF base. Exeter Airport's real growth as an international airport really took off though from the early 1980s and through the 1990s. During this period long haul flights began to appear, particularly to Toronto in Canada and daily Flybe flights to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, and of course all the major airlines like First Choice, Britannia, Spanair and Air Malta coming on board offering flights mainly to Mediterranean destinations.
