Exmouth is renowned for being a firm family holiday Devon destination. Not surprising as it's well equipped for a seaside resort, with a long and lustrious seaside holiday history, which picked up after the Nepoleonic Wars. Exe Estuary Boat Trips & Ferry Rides
One of the best ways to view the Exe Estuary, and indeed further out along the Jurassic coast, is by boat and Stuart Line Cruises obliges nicely with a choice of Ferry rides. Boat trips depart from Exmouth Marina, and there's a choice few more to choose from. How about a Carnival Cruise with boat trips to local carnivals taking place in the summer months, including Teignmouth Carnival in July, Dawlish Carnival in August and Topsham Carnival also in August. Alternatively go further afield and take a day trip to Torquay or Sidmouth. For a leisurely cruice of the River Exe and Exe Estuary choose their Round Robin Tour, which takes you 8 miles up the River Exe, talking in superb views of Exe Estuary hotspots like Powderham Castle, Lympstone, and Starcross.

Birdwatching Cruises on the River Exe

Birdwatching cruises begin at Exmouth and head up the river towards Topsham. The River Exe is host to upto 25,000 birds migrating every winter, and is renowned for its wildfowl and other bird life.
