Sparkwell Golf Course is a little further outside Plymouth, 11 km to be precise. Golfing fans though can expect fantastic views surround this golf course. It's a challenging 9 hole parkland course with plenty of teaching facilities and a friendly bar and accommodation on site. Groups and societies are most welcome at Sparkwell. Staddon Heights golf club in Plymstock near Plymouth is right on the seafront, which fantastic views of Plymouth Sound, and a backdrop of Dartmoorr. This is an easy walking and relaxing 18 hole course with a couple of Testing holes. Facilities are excellent, with a fully licensed bar with an a la carte menu on-site and open all day. Yelverton Golf Course benefits from being close to both Dartmoor and Plymouth. Essentially, this golf course's image is more Dartmoor as it's a moorland course within The Dartmoor National Park, with superb views across Dartmoor. This moorland golf course welcomes Societies and leisure visitors alike. There's plenty of facilities including a practice area and a full bar with catering service open all day. The Mount Batten Centre on Lawrence Road, Plymouth is perhaps the definitive place to head for all things watersports in Plymouth. It's certainly a centre and a half, offering not just a choice of sailing, water skiiing, canoeing, what they call rib rides (rather hairy!), jet skiing, and scuba diving, but some land based sports as well such as climbing. Training with experienced instructors is on the menu, and the centre is well equipped for lectures, training rooms, group and corporate events and more. A number of Plymouth and Plymouth surrounds sailing clubs affiliate to the Mount Batton Centre including Drake Sailing Club whose aim is to help people with disabilities to sail in sheltered waters. Plymouth Sound really is tops in terms of a natural sheltered waters environment for sailing and watersports! Rib Rides are highly recommended for the adventurous! Fancy racing out to sea in a hard inflatable dingy anyone. Fantastic.

Eating out Plymouth style is a delight to say the least, with choice choice choice. The Barbican Maritime Village and the Sutton Harbour area has a superb range of chic restaurants, cafes and harbourside pubs and bars. You can sit outside and watch the Plymouth Harbour world go by at your leisure. The atmosphere on Plymouth's waterfront with cafes, bars and pubs lining it is pure heaven, takes you back a bit it's so pleasureable. Somebody got it right here on the Barbican!
Highly recommended venues are Bistro Bene on Sutton Harbour, right on the waterfront. Check out their weblink to the right. Here there's a chic French menu on offer, acommpanied by superb views across Plymouth Harbour! For more French towards Plymouth city centre check out Restaurant des Amis on St Andrew's Street (look across at the Elizabethan Merchants House whilst you're at it!). On Discovery Wharf Zucca! serves informat Italian bar-brasserie style food, or Baba's on Vauxhall Street is a cool indial.
For vegetarian, check out the great award winning veggie stuff at the Plymouth Arts Centre restaurant. For character informal fish dining and more check out Cap'n Jaspers on Whitehouse Pier (tel: 01752 262444). This was once an old shack on the fishmarket, and now it's a cool humourous venue near the Barbican Glassworks.
