Torquay's popularity as a Devon seaside holiday resort is in large part due to the large number of beautiful blue flag beaches on this Tor Bay stretch of the South West Coast. There's also the added bonus of the South West Coast Path, easily accessed off many of the beaches. There's no less than 20 beaches dotted along the Torbay coastline,
10 of these South Devon beaches are around the Torquay area. Take your pick from sand and shingle Babbacombe Beach, very popular with sailing and fishing fans with parking, a café and a public toilet and phone actually on the beach. Or how about blue flag Meadfoot Beach, a pebble beach with ample facilities including parking, cafes, deck chairs and public toilets. Two of Torquay's main beaches, Livermead Beach and Abbey Sands, so called after Torre Abbey monastery, are to the west of the harbour.
